5.1.2 A Development History of China’ Corporate Debt

Since 2009, the corporate debt in China has exploded with an average annual growth rate of 24.84%. By the end of 2014, the corporate debt of non-financial enterprises in China amounted to RMB 201.87 trillion, a year over year increase of 11.81% and 2.5 times that of the corporate debt at the end of 2009. Though the debt growth began to slow in 2012, due to a large stock offering, the annual increment amounted to approximately RMB 25 trillion (Fig. 5.2).
